Finland is magical in many ways; the landscape changes from one extreme to another together with the four completely different seasons. Delightful summertime is blue and green with sunlight almost 24 hours a day – the land of the midnight sun – of course if it is not raining! At the beginning of your stay you will most probably wonder how the Finns get to fall asleep when it’s so light still at ten o’clock in the evening!

 

Everywhere you can see water and forest; those cover 80% of the country’s surface. If you have heard the saying: Finland is the land of thousands of lakes, you have heard right! Actually someone has managed to count all the 187 888 lakes and 179 584 islands! When the autumn comes the nature changes colors, before the leaves drop the green vanishes and everything turn into yellow, red and orange. At the same time as the snow starts falling down the hours of sunlight diminishes and winter covers everything with snow. Spring comes rapidly; snow and ice melt, together with the arriving migrant birds the nature wakes from its winter sleep.

 

In Finland you can find both peaceful and deserted areas with no inhabitants within miles and miles and modern cities with busy industries and economies. While Santa Claus has lived in Lapland for hundreds of years the modern technology also blooms. Ex. our famous Nokia cell phones are to be seen everywhere. Can you guess in which country over 90% of inhabitants have a mobile phone?
